Air Curing Tobacco

Air curing is often done in South and Central America, as well as Tennessee and Kentucky. Farmers let tobacco dry in the open air when they air cure tobacco. The tobacco is used for cigars and cigarettes. These tobaccos usually have a low sugar content. Tobacco leaves usually change from green to yellow. Sticks or wood are often used to protect the tobacco from the sun, wind, and harsh rain.
